4This is a simple prayer to do the best we can in speech and thought.

References Used Against Astrology

Acts 19:19 reports that new converts burned their books. They were called books of “curious arts” in the King James version. Modem language and revised standard labeled them magic arts. Living Bible said black magic. None of them used the word astrology or made any statement that would describe astrology as some of the present day preachers label. Ignorance is never a good excuse for misplaced criticism but it is frequently the explanation. Masses of people who condemn astrology do not know what it is. They are off on a tirade based on ignorance.

Deuteronomy 4:19 says, “And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto n heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them.”

This was said to people whose parents had been Sun and Venus worshipers. The comment had nothing to do with using the hints of the sky for interpreting the weather and human activity.

Deuteronomy 18:10:11 is a reference that is thrown at us, as astrologers, frequently. Usually the reference only is cited and the quote not used. Perhaps because astrology is not listed and, as too often happens, we are put on the heap.

The quote, “There shall not be found among you any one H that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a wizard, or a necromancer.”

There are many astrologers who dabble in one or more of the subjects listed but it is not my purpose to condone or condemn. Note that astrology is not mentioned, unless it comes under divination which comes from the word divine, meaning from God.

Jeremiah 10: 2-3 says, “Thus saith the Lord, learn not the way of the heathen and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed by them; for the customs of the people are vain.”

This appears to be nothing more than a warning against negative thinking.

“And He (Jesus) said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.” Acts 1:7.

There are several stop gaps in astrology which will not allow us to know the future exactly. The energy of Uranus and the yod, which is the Finger of God, come unexpectedly. They are out of our control and cannot be judged. Pluto and Neptune are extremely difficult to call precisely. Any eighth or twelfth house matters are clothed in privacy and it is difficult or impossible to predict their activity. Sometimes there are blocks between the astrologer and the client, in which case Saturn or Neptune of one chart is usually aspecting Mercury or the third or twelfth house of the other chart.
